Shell May Seek Alaskan Oil Leases Extension After Permits Delay

Royal Dutch Shell Plc, Europe’s largest oil company, said it may ask the U.S. to extend leases off the Alaska coast beyond 2015 after delays in issuing permits forced the company to put off drilling until next year.
The Hague-based company, which won the 10-year Beaufort Sea leases in 2005, anticipates getting Interior Department permission to drill shortly, and is uncertain about timing for an emissions permit from the Environmental Protection Agency, Pete Slaiby, Shell Alaska vice president, told reporters today.
