Milorad Momic, a former Serbian paramilitary suspected of war crimes in the 1995 Srebrenica massacre, is being detained in France, where a judge will decide Feb. 3 whether to extradite him, a police official said.
Momic, 47, was arrested yesterday in the eastern region of Isere on an international warrant issued by Serbia for crimes against humanity. He was living and working in France under a false identity, married to a French woman. He is being held at Varces prison, near the city of Grenoble, while the extradition request is being processed, the police officer, who declined to be named, said in a telephone interview.
