Yields on shorter-term Brazilian interest-rate futures contracts fell as traders pared bets on how much policy makers will raise rates this year after they increased borrowing costs by 50 basis points yesterday.

The yield on the contract due in July fell five basis points to 11.88 percent at 4:01 p.m. New York time. Contracts due in January 2012 sank the same amount to 12.37 percent.
