China has a “responsibility to do better” at guaranteeing freedom and dignity for its citizens and the U.S. has a “responsibility to hold them to account,” U.S. House Speaker John Boehner said after meeting with Chinese President Hu Jintao.

During Hu’s visit to the U.S. Capitol today, lawmakers from both parties said they pressed him to impose stronger intellectual-property protections and to restrain North Korea. Other issues raised with the Chinese president included trade, currency, climate change and jurisdiction in the South China Seas, the lawmakers said.
