Japan Seeks 61,000 Tons of Foreign Rice in Tender

Japan is seeking to import 61,000 metric tons of rice in a tender on Jan. 25, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries said today.

Of the total, the government plans to buy 12,000 tons from the U.S., 24,000 tons from Thailand, and the rest from any country, according to the ministry’s grain-trade division.
