Michael Ignatieff, leader of the main opposition Liberals, said Canada can’t afford Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s corporate tax cuts at a time when the government is running defcitis.
“Mr. Harper drove Canada into deficit even before the recession,” Ignatieff said in a speech today in Toronto to the Canadian Council of Chief Executives, according to a statement issued by the party. “We can’t afford to borrow billions more for additional tax breaks to Canada’s largest corporations.”
