Merkel Says Germany’s Reunification May Be Model for Cyprus

Chancellor Angela Merkel offered Germany’s experience of reunification after the Cold War as a possible template to help resolve the division of Cyprus.
Merkel, who grew up in East Germany and witnessed the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, said that the German government is ready to help in the event that United Nations negotiations due later this month between the Greek and Turkish Cypriot sides yield results.
