Singapore prosecutors called for a strong deterrent sentence for the first man convicted for his part in a S$12.2 million ($9.4 million) scam, the city’s biggest public-sector fraud in 15 years.

Ho Yen Teck, convicted of 21 charges of conspiring to cheat the Singapore Land Authority, played a “pivotal role” as the main accomplice outside the government agency, Deputy Public Prosecutor Jean Chan said at a Singapore Subordinate Court hearing today.
