The top U.S. commodity regulator will consider a plan next week to curb speculation in raw materials including oil, gold and wheat as part of the most sweeping rewrite of Wall Street rules since the 1930s.

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission will discuss position limits at its next meeting on Jan. 13, the Washington-based agency said in a statement today. The rules would cap the number of contracts traders can hold.
