India will further withdraw fiscal stimulus as it strives to tame inflation in an economy set to return to 9 percent growth, Kaushik Basu, the chief economic adviser in the finance ministry said.

“We want to roll back the stimulus” and undertake measures to reduce inflation, Basu, 58, said in an interview in New Delhi yesterday. “So you will see steps being taken this year, next year and maybe the year after.”
