Samsung Plans Record Spending, Seek New Businesses

Samsung Electronics Co., South Korea’s largest company, and its affiliates will boost spending to a record this year as they expand into new businesses.

Investments will increase 18 percent from 2010 to 43.1 trillion won ($38 billion), including 29.9 trillion won of capital expenditure, Samsung group said in an e-mailed statement today. Samsung will also boost hiring 11 percent this year.
