ITV, BSkyB in 2006 Discussed Merging News Operations, FT Reports

British Sky Broadcasting Group Plc and ITV Plc held talks in 2006 about merging their news operations, the Financial Times reported, citing unidentified people involved in the discussions.
The talks, which involved Dawn Airey, then controller of Sky Television, and the chief executive officers of ITV and ITN, ended after BSkyB bought a 940 million-pound ($1.5 billion) share in ITV, the newspaper said.
