One in Six Britons Likely to Reach the Age of 100, Times Says

Ten million people alive in Britain today, 17 percent of the population, will probably live to be 100 or more, the London-based Times reported, citing research by the Department for Work and Pensions.

The number of centenarians is predicted to rise from a few thousand now to more than half a million by 2066, as better nutrition, less smoking and improved health care increase longevity, the newspaper said.
