Serbia Adopts 2011 Budget, Targets Deficit at 4.1% of GDP

Serbian lawmakers approved the 2011 budget, narrowing the deficit to 4.1 percent of gross domestic product, in line with the terms of its loan program with the International Monetary Fund.

Parliament in Belgrade voted in favor of the 845 billion-dinar ($10.5 billion) spending plan, with revenue set at 724 billion dinar and a shortfall of 140 billion dinar. Of 149 lawmakers present in the 250-seat hall, 128 voted to back the spending plan.
