President Barack Obama said the Federal Communications Commission vote to prevent service providers from blocking or slowing web content met an “important goal” of keeping the internet open while protecting consumers and spurring innovation.
“Today’s decision will help preserve the free and open nature of the Internet while encouraging innovation, protecting consumer choice, and defending free speech,” he said in a statement released by the White House.
