Gasoline Gains on Speculation Holidays Will Increase Demand

Gasoline rose on speculation that demand will improve heading into the Christmas holidays and on indications the U.S. economic recovery is strengthening.

Prices advanced as demand, measured by what refiners and blenders provide to wholesalers, reached a seven-week high last week, the Energy Department reported Dec. 15. The index of U.S. leading economic indicators increased in November by the most in eight months.
