Slovenia’s parliament approved the government’s proposed pension overhaul, increasing the retirement age for workers as the euro-region country cuts public spending.

Lawmakers in the capital Ljubljana voted 49-35 today in favor of the legislation, which is likely to take effect in January, according to a live broadcast by the public broadcaster Televizija Slovenija.
