Lithuanian Finance Minister Ingrida Simonyte said the government may have to revise its 2011 budget plan as early as April after lawmakers cut the excise tax for alcohol by 28 percent.
Lawmakers decided yesterday to lower the excise tax to 3,200 litai ($1,224) per 100 liters of alcohol from 4,416 litai as of next year, two days ahead of the final vote on the 2011 budget. The decision still requires approval by President Dalia Grybauskaite.
