Solar, Wind Made Up 80% of German Capacity Installed Last

Solar and wind power accounted for about 80 percent of power generation capacity installed in Germany last year, the Federal Network Agency said.
The total subsidies paid to solar plant operators in 2009 was almost as much as as the aid for wind parks even as wind turbines generated six times more electricity than panels, the Bonn-based grid regulator, also known as the Bundesnetzagentur, said in an e-mailed statement today.
