Croatia’s United Unions Threaten General Strike on Dec. 10

Croatia’s united unions are planning a general strike on Dec. 10 unless the government organizes a referendum that, if passed, would guarantee the current labor rights of those employed in the public sector.

“The strike would aim to paralyze Croatia,” Ozren Matijasevic, president of the Croatian Trade Union Association, said in an interview. “This is a fight for direct democracy.”
