U.K. Entitled Not to Refer Company to UN Over Congo, Court Says

The British government was justified in not referring Amalgamated Metals Corp. to the United Nations for sanctions over purchases of tin ore from the Democratic Republic of Congo, a court in London found.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office was entitled to decide AMC “has sought to terminate its activities in relation to the DRC and that there was and is no evidence or concern regarding any involvement by it in illegitimate trading activities in the DRC to warrant a report to the UN,” the Administrative Court ruled, according to a copy of a court filing the FCO e-mailed.
