President Hugo Chavez said he hopes to follow in the footsteps of his Brazilian ally Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and one day hand power in Venezuela to a woman.

“Everything indicates Dilma Rousseff will win and hopefully in the first round,” Chavez, referring to Brazil’s Oct. 3 election, said in comments broadcast on state TV. “When it is my turn to hand over power I want to give it to a woman.”
