China Petrochemical Corp., the nation’s second biggest energy company, will join the bidding for 42 offshore exploration blocks off Gabon, Reuters reported.

Sinopec Group, as the oil producer is known, expects several international companies to bid for the wells, its President Su Shulin was quoted as saying yesterday. Su spoke in Libreville, the central African nation’s capital, after meeting Gabon’s energy minister. Huang Wensheng, a Beijing-based Sinopec spokesman, didn’t immediately return calls to his mobile phone.
