E.ON AG and RWE AG may pay less into a state renewable-energy fund if the government shortens or changes a planned extension of the lives of atomic power plants.

The nation’s four atomic power companies agreed to pay 9 euros ($11) to the fund from 2017 for every megawatt-hour of electricity they generate with a reactor that passed its original scheduled shutdown date, the government said. Those costs would fall if the rules are changed, according to the statement published on the government’s website yesterday.
