Netherlands Wants to Be ‘Properly Represented’ on IMF

The Netherlands aims to be “properly represented” at the International Monetary Fund as Europeans face U.S. pressure to reduce their number of seats.
“We belong to the 10 largest contributors to the IMF so we want to be properly represented,” Niels Redeker, a spokesman at the Dutch Finance Ministry, told Bloomberg in an e-mail today. While the U.S. is pushing for “less Europe, more emerging economies” on the IMF’s board of directors, the Netherlands “doesn’t feel concerned. We are often building bridges.”
