Victoria Azarenka suffered a mild concussion during her warm-up at the U.S. Open today and was forced to quit a half-hour into the contest when she collapsed on the court.

Azarenka, 21, who was carried off the tennis court in a wheelchair and transported to a hospital, at first appeared to be the victim of the heat that has enveloped the tournament. The temperature at the time was 94 degrees Fahrenheit (34 Celsius) with 35 percent humidity, according to Weather.com, leading tournament officials to put a heat-relief rule into effect.
