Sugar output in Brazil’s Center South, the world’s largest producing region, will rise less than previously forecast this year after dry weather hurt the crop, industry association Unica said.
Mills in the region, which account for about 90 percent of Brazil’s sugar, will produce 33.7 million metric tons from the current crop, less than a March 31 forecast of 34.1 million tons, Unica said today in a report distributed in Sao Paulo. Production will rise from 28.6 million tons a year earlier.
