Cognitive behavioral therapy, when used with medication, helped adults with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder improve their daily activities, according to the first clinical study to assess the treatment.

Sixty-seven percent of patients who received the therapy eased the symptoms of their condition, which included difficulty organizing and forgetfulness, compared with 33 percent of those who received relaxation techniques and educational support to supplement their medicine, according to research published today in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
