Walmex May Build Stores in 300 More Regional Cities
Wal-Mart de Mexico SAB, Latin America’s largest retailer, plans to open stores in 300 more cities in the region as Mexico’s economy recovers and domestic demand returns, Chief Executive Officer Scot Rank said.
The company aims to grow in Latin America because of the market’s young population and untapped customers, including those who currently make purchases in the informal market, Rank said yesterday in an interview. He spoke at the opening of a distribution center in the southeastern Mexican city of Villahermosa, Tabasco, the company’s 14th such center in Mexico.
