New Jersey students, set to return to school next month, may find larger classes and fewer teachers following an $820 million cut in state aid to balance the budget, according to a survey of the state’s school districts.
More than four out of five officials polled said they plan to begin the academic year with fewer instructors, the New Jersey School Boards Association said yesterday in a report. Of those, more than two in five said the reduced funding would result in bigger class sizes and one of three said school programs would be cut, according to the survey.
