German Ministry Warns Against Using BlackBerrys, IPhones

German government officials should avoid using Apple Inc.’s iPhone and Research in Motion Ltd.’s BlackBerry because they pose a security risk, Interior Ministry spokesman Stefan Paris told reporters in Berlin today.

Government departments have started using Simko 2, a cell phone developed by Deutsche Telekom AG’s T-Systems since last year on the advice of the German Federal Office for Information Security, he said.
