Mukherjee Says Subbarao to Act If Demand Fans Prices

India’s central bank Governor Duvvuri Subbarao will tighten monetary policy if excessive consumer demand stokes inflation, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said.
“He is keeping a watch on demand side,” Mukherjee said in a debate on inflation in the upper house of Parliament today. “And if it is found that the demand side needs to be taken care of, necessary adjustments will be made.”
