An Afghan soldier killed three British troops and wounded four in a 2 a.m. attack at a joint NATO-Afghan army base in southern Afghanistan, according to Afghanistan’s Defense Ministry.
The attacker “used the darkness of night and escaped,” Defense Ministry spokesman General Zaher Azimi said in a statement. The Afghan army chief, General Sher Mohammad Karimi, said the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and the Afghan government will jointly investigate the killings and will “prosecute those responsible,” according to a statement issued by NATO’s International Security Assistance Force.
