Intesa Sanpaolo SpA’s supervisory board appointed Andrea Beltratti, a professor of political economy at Bocconi University, as new chairman. Corrado Passera was confirmed for a second term as chief executive officer.

Beltratti, who will replace Enrico Salza, was nominated by Compagnia San Paolo, Intesa’s largest shareholder, after another candidate, Domenico Siniscalco, said he was no longer available for the job. The appointments were “unanimously decided,” the Milan-based bank said in a statement today.
