When Jeffrey Katzenberg took over Walt Disney’s film division in 1984, the glory days of Disney animation were a distant memory. The studio that had made such classics as “Fantasia” and “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” was in a major creative and commercial slump.
“We’ve got to wake up ‘Sleeping Beauty,’” Katzenberg declared.
