Buyers ‘Tricked’ at Priceline, Orbitz, Other Sites, Senate Says

Priceline.com, Orbitz.com and Comcast Corp.’s Fandango are among 19 retailers that each made more than $10 million from partnerships with Web companies that “trick” shoppers into online purchases, a Senate report said.
Affinion Group Inc., Webloyalty and Vertrue Inc., all based in Norwalk, Connecticut, “have earned over $1.4 billion in revenue by using aggressive tactics to charge Internet shoppers for club membership programs,” the U.S. Senate Commerce Committee said in a report released today.
