Russia Reopens Probe Into Lawmaker Starovoitova’s 1998 Murder

Russia reopened an investigation into the 1998 assassination of human rights activist Galina Starovoitova because of “new circumstances” in the case, a spokeswoman for the Federal Security Service said today.
Starovoitova, a lawmaker and human rights activist, was gunned down on Nov. 20, 1998, in the stairwell of her St. Petersburg apartment building.
