Optos Plc, the U.K. maker of scanners to detect eye disease, said it plans to introduce a cheaper line of machines that it can market in Asia, as the company seeks to branch out from the U.S.

“The big opportunity for us 12, 18, 24 months out is moving into the Far East,” Chief Executive Officer Roy Davis said in an interview in London. “To do that we will need a low- cost device, because the relative cost of an eye exam in the Far East is much lower.”
