Twitter Outage Silences Tweets After Hacker Attack

Twitter Inc., the social-networking Web site that lets users post short comments known as Tweets, was unavailable today after being targeted by hackers.
“We are defending against this attack,” co-founder Biz Stone wrote on the company blog. The site was accessible again at about noon New York time. Blogging site LiveJournal Inc. also was attacked, and Facebook Inc. had its service disrupted.
