Developing-nation stocks recouped their losses since the collapse of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. as the benchmark MSCI Emerging Markets Index climbed above its closing level on Sept. 12.

The MSCI index added 2.5 percent to 864.73, its first close above 855.47 since Lehman filed for bankruptcy. Shares rallied from Sao Paulo to Shanghai as rising commodity prices and a report on U.S. manufacturing that topped forecasts bolstered speculation the global recession is easing.
