Shin-Etsu Jumps After Saying It May Lift Wafer Prices

Shin-Etsu Chemical Co., the world’s largest maker of silicon wafers for semiconductors, rose the most in more than three months in Tokyo trading after saying it aims to raise wafer prices for the first time in three years.

Shin-Etsu gained 4.9 percent to close at 4,740 yen on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, the sharpest increase since April 9 and the highest close since June 12. Sumco Corp., the world’s second-largest maker of silicon wafers, gained 4.6 percent to 1,579 yen, the highest since May 8.
