Richard Scrushy, the HealthSouth Corp. founder acquitted in 2005 of running a $2.7 billion accounting fraud, said the company had to pay for breast implants for a rock band member because she was ill.
Investors in a civil lawsuit want Scrushy to pay $2.6 billion to HealthSouth, claiming he knew about the fraud and misused HealthSouth funds for personal travel, his wife’s underwear business and cosmetic surgery for a member of the band he formed, 3rd Faze.
