Ex-soccer referee Martin Bodenham, who officiated the 1997 League Cup final, will become the first person to also umpire in English first class cricket.

Bodenham, 58, was today elevated by the England and Wales Cricket Board to its list of 25 professional umpires. He has been on the board's reserve list since 2006.
