Banca Carpatica's Profit More Than Quadruples on Lending Boom

Banca Comerciala Carpatica SA, Romania's third-largest publicly traded bank, said profit before tax more than quadrupled in the first quarter amid a lending boom in the country.

Pretax profit rose to 2.64 million lei ($1.1 million) from 600,000 lei in the same quarter of last year, the bank said in a regulatory filing to the Bucharest Stock Exchange today. The company didn't provide figures for net income.
