VimpelCom to Buy Golden Telecom for $4.3 Billion

Russia's OAO VimpelCom agreed to buy Golden Telecom Inc. for $4.3 billion to create the country's first wireless and fixed-line company.
VimpelCom, Russia's second-largest mobile-phone company, will pay $105 a share in cash for Nasdaq-listed Golden Telecom, the Moscow-based companies said in a statement today. The price is 74 percent higher than July 5, the day before VimpelCom said it might bid for Golden Telecom.
