Biomet Reports SEC Investigation of Foreign Sales

Biomet Inc., the orthopedic-device maker bought by private equity firms, said U.S. securities regulators are investigating its overseas sales practices.
Other companies are under investigation as well, Biomet said today in a statement distributed by Business Wire. The Warsaw, Indiana, company received a letter Sept. 25 from the Securities and Exchange Commission saying it ``is conducting an informal investigation regarding possible violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act,'' according to the statement.
