Telefonica O2 Czech Republic AS, the dominant Czech telecommunications company, will appeal a court order to pay 1.8 billion koruna ($84 million) to the local unit of T-Mobile International AG.

Telefonica was ordered to pay 900 million koruna plus the same amount in interest to T-Mobile AS, the newspaper Hospodarske Noviny reported today. The matter concerns a 2001 dispute over interconnection fees between then state-controlled Cesky Telecom AS, which was later bought by Telefonica, and RadioMobil, a mobile company Deutsche Telekom AG gained a majority in and changed to the T-Mobile brand.
