Dougan, `Quiet American,' Wins Credit Suisse Job Mack Missed

Brady Dougan, who grew up in an Illinois farm town where his father was a railroad dispatcher, reached the top of Credit Suisse Group by not seeming too American.
The bank last week named Dougan, 47, to be its first solo chief executive officer from the U.S. He will succeed Oswald Gruebel, a 63-year-old German who is retiring.
