Cytec Industries May Double Carbon-Fiber Capacity
Cytec Industries Inc., which makes reinforced plastics, may double its carbon fiber-production capacity to meet ``explosive'' demand for lighter airplane parts, Chief Executive Officer David Lilley said.
Cytec increased output of carbon fiber, which stiffens composite plastics, by 50 percent since 2003, and plans to add an additional 30 percent through 2007, Lilley said today at an investor conference in New York. The West Paterson, New Jersey-based company then may as much as double capacity with a $100 million plant, he said.
