2005 Cadillac CTS-V

This super-fast car is packed with power. But the steering makes it feel like you're driving a minivan

Strong Points: Acceleration; Handling; Brakes

Weak Points: Steering; Fuel economy

Mfr.'s Suggested Retail Price: $51,195

My, the Americans are doing wonderful things with cars these days. Cadillac has seen fit to stuff an all-powerful Corvette engine into its swoopy looking CTS. The result is a super-fast car with decent handling to match. But the steering, in its minivan-like slowness, is terrible. The exhaust system is tuned to produce wonderful sounds at high revs, but the engine burns gasoline at a rate that's hard to believe. While not terribly practical, the new "V" is a car we're nevertheless glad exists.
